Tiffany Washington, an assistant professor in the University of Georgia School of Social Work received the 2017 UGA Service-Learning Research Award and the 2016 UGA Creative Teaching Award. The focus of Washington’s Award Winning Faculty Series talk will be the ways in which faculty can connect their in-class teaching to their larger research agenda. Focusing on her own pedagogical practice, Washington will highlight experiential learning techniques and share from her own pedagogical practice, including students’ feedback. Details

Designing a high-quality survey that meets your research needs is key to a successful classroom research project, but so is getting students to take those surveys. This workshop will cover research-based recommendations for both the design and implementation of online surveys. The first hour will focus on survey basics and question design for those somewhat new to survey methodology. After a brief break, the second hour will focus on reducing barriers and perceived “cost” of taking—and analyzing—the survey for students and researchers using motivational techniques and Qualtrics options.
