Event Type: New Faculty Workshops, SoTL Workshops, TA Services and Programs

Designing a high-quality survey that meets your research needs is key to a successful classroom research project, but so is getting students to take those surveys. This workshop will cover research-based recommendations for both the design and implementation of online surveys. The first hour will focus on survey basics and question design for those somewhat new to survey methodology. After a brief break, the second hour will focus on reducing barriers and perceived “cost” of taking—and analyzing—the survey for students and researchers using motivational techniques and Qualtrics options.

Participants should create a Qualtrics account before the workshop. Qualtrics is a web-based survey tool, and accounts are free to UGA staff, faculty and students. From EITS:

Qualtrics is free for all UGA students, faculty and staff, but users must contact the EITS Help Desk to request an account. Faculty and staff who want to establish a Qualtrics account must contact their local departmental IT staff. If your department doesn't have its own IT department, you may contact the EITS Help Desk to establish a Qualtrics account.

Once created, users may access their UGA-branded Qualtrics account at For password help, contact the EITS Help Desk or your departmental IT staff.

Coffee and snacks will be provided for this morning workshop. Participants may attend both hours or just one hour.
