CTL North Instructional Plaza
Presenter: Paula Lemons, Ph.D., Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Toyin Alli, Ph.D., Mathematics.
Event Type: New Faculty Workshops, Pedagogy & Practice Workshops
Ever had a student demonstrate mastery at solving a problem, but when they see a "new" problem, they are at a loss for how to approach it? In this workshop we'll demonstrate and discuss how and why STEM faculty embed real world problems that are authentic to their field in their courses. In addition, we'll model how to help students learn discipline specific-principles of problem solving to tackle new, more complex problems in STEM. Scaffolding problems, case studies, and real-world scenarios will be discussed.
