Writing Certificate

The Interdisciplinary Writing Certificate Program at the University of Georgia provides students in all colleges and fields the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their written communication skills.

Academia and the workplace are increasingly competitive and strong writing skills are critical to future success. According to “Writing: A Ticket to Work…Or a Ticket Out,” a 2004 report commissioned by the College Board, “A survey of 120 major American corporations employing nearly 8 million people...indicate[s] that writing is a ticket to professional opportunity.”

In the Writing Certificate Program, you tailor your coursework to your field of study. The writing done for the program will form a record of your critical thinking, research, and communication skills, and highlight your understanding of conventions of writing within your chosen field.

The ePortfolio you create in the program will provide evidence of your writing ability and showcase your best work.
