Would it be responsible to rely on a tool like ChatGPT to generate feedback for student work? Should students be allowed to make use of an AI notetaker that records and summarizes your lecture as you speak? What about the environmental impact of the computing power it takes to train and maintain the tools that are flooding our systems? Or a tool that can read student body language and provide real-time suggestions for increasing student engagement? In this workshop we’ll explore ethical questions and issues associated with generative AI tools and their use in higher education, examining implications for both instructors and students. Join us to collaboratively increase your AI-IQ, developing a more informed and nuanced perspective on the responsible use of generative AI tools for teaching and learning.
