Madeline Williams is a Graduate Assistant at the Center for Teaching and Learning. She has an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Georgia and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Sociology here at UGA as well.
Madeline’s research/teaching areas of interest include Gender and Sexuality, Social Psychology, Mental Health and Illness, and Digital Sociology. Her dissertation work examines how the context of social interactions influences actors’ response to a perceived threat and the decisions they make in the healthcare system. Madeline has taught courses on Gender, Media, and Mental Health and Illness. She is passionate about helping students use sociological theories and concepts to think critically about their everyday interactions with others, the social media content they consume, and larger societal-level phenomena. Within her courses, Madeline specifically assists students in applying their sociological knowledge to their future careers in a variety of fields.
