Generative AI 102: (Re)Constructing) Critical Skills

January 24 @ 1:40 pm - 3:10 pm

Generative AI (GAI) is rapidly changing the landscape of higher education: various platforms are now available to summarize lectures, extract discussion points from a reading, and write undetectable content for students. While intimidating, these developments are an exciting catalyst for changing the way we approach teaching, particularly the foundational skills of critical reading, writing, listening, and thinking. Indeed, more than ever, our students need these critical skills to engage effectively and ethically with GAI in their day-to-day lives. In this workshop, we will define what form and role these critical skills serve in your discipline, identify perceived gaps in the acquirement of these critical skills, and develop practical teaching strategies for facilitating their practice in the classroom.
