How Learning Works

So just how does learning really work? You may have read about key terms like cognition, attention, working memory, retrieval, prior knowledge, among others, but how do they work together to produce long-term learning? In this workshop, we’ll explore the “stuff” the brain does to turn input (e.g., text, presentation, dialogue) into lasting output. We’ll also identify points in the learning process where you, as a TA or instructor, can impact whether and how much learning occurs.
