Sheryl Meskin

Assistant Director for Teaching Engagement

Sheryl Meskin is the Assistant Director for Teaching Engagement. She supports UGA faculty in their teaching practices to use more active learning approaches. In this effort she aims to support faculty to engage students in their learning with consideration of how they learn.

Previously, Sheryl worked primarily with UGA STEM faculty, in partnership with the NSF-funded DeLTA project, to promote inclusive teaching practices and to support the development of effective teaching evaluation practices in STEM departments. Prior to joining UGA, Sheryl was the Program Manager of the University of Leed’s science foundation year. She also worked to support bioscience lecturers with teaching engagement activities in her role with the Higher Education Academy’s Center for Bioscience. Sheryl was awarded a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) while in the UK. She is an alumna of Texas A&M University, where she completed a B.S. in Education, Curriculum and Instruction and of Texas Tech University, where she earned a Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Biology.
