Program Overview
The Creative Engagement Wing (CEW) Fellows Program supports UGA faculty in redesigning student-centered assignments that integrate emerging technologies and active learning practices. Located in the Miller Learning Center, the CEW offers access to tools such as 3D printers, podcasting studios, laser cutters, and immersive VR/XR environments. Fellows receive training, peer support, and a stipend to develop assignments that foster creativity, collaboration, and real-world relevance.
Program Goals
- Empower faculty to creatively use CEW technologies in their teaching
- Promote interdisciplinary, hands-on learning experiences
- Align redesigned assignments with UGA Institutional Competencies
- Cultivate a campus-wide culture of pedagogical experimentation
- Contribute to a shared repository of CEW-integrated assignments
Program Activities
- Fellows participate in a series of seven workshops from February to May 2026, including:
- Hands-on tool training and assignment design
- Peer feedback and coaching
- Final presentations and celebration
Deliverables include:
- A redesigned assignment integrating a CEW resource
- Final presentation and submission to the CEW Repository
Eligibility
- Open to full-time UGA faculty of all ranks and titles.
- Must be teaching a course that can incorporate CEW resources
- Commitment to attend all workshops and complete deliverables
Selection Process
Applications are reviewed based on:
- Feasibility and creativity of proposed assignment concept
- Potential for meaningful student engagement
- Alignment with active learning principles and institutional competencies
