The Generative AI & Teaching (GAIT) Faculty Fellows program brings together a cohort of faculty to explore, share, develop, implement, and assess innovative applications of generative AI for teaching and learning. 15 faculty fellows will be selected to participate in this year-long program, with each fellow developing and piloting a unique, AI-supported teaching innovation. Fellows will engage in workshops and collaborative sessions during the 2025-2026 academic year, and will receive one-on-one support from a teaching and learning specialist. Each fellow will receive a $3,000 stipend to support their professional development or enhance teaching resources.

The program culminates in the Generative AI and Teaching Colloquium, where fellows will share their projects, foster wider conversations about AI-enhanced education, and inspire further innovation across campus.

Cohort Selection

The program will competitively select 15 full-time faculty members based on the following criteria:

  • Potential Impact on Student Success: How the proposed innovation supports student learning and development
  • Creativity and Innovation: Originality in applying generative AI to teaching
  • Sustainability: Potential for lasting impact beyond the fellowship year
  • Likelihood of Success: Expectation that the project will be successfully implemented in pilot form during the cohort year
  • Alignment with UGA Priorities: Connection to institutional goals and best practices in teaching and learning
